Pay-As-You-Go: A Simple Way To Use SignDeck

Pay-As-You-Go: A Simple Way To Use SignDeck

December 27, 2025

When building SignDeck, one principle guided many of our decisions:

Don’t force users into commitments they’re not ready for.

That philosophy applies not just to product features, but also to pricing.

While subscriptions are common in SaaS, we deliberately chose a credits-based model for SignDeck — at least for now. Here’s why.

SignDeck started as a free, lightweight tool

SignDeck was built to make collecting documents and signatures simple. Early users weren’t looking for a heavy platform or a long-term contract — they wanted a tool they could use when the need came up.

For many teams, document signing isn’t a daily activity. Some weeks are busy. Others are quiet. A recurring subscription doesn’t always reflect that reality.

We wanted pricing that matched how people actually use the product.

Credits let you pay only when you need SignDeck

With credits, you only pay when you send document requests.

  • 1 credit = 1 request sent
  • A request can include multiple files and signers
  • Credits don’t force monthly commitments

This makes SignDeck flexible by design:

  • If you send documents occasionally, you pay occasionally
  • If you’re busy one month and quiet the next, your costs adjust naturally

There’s no pressure to “get your money’s worth” before a billing cycle ends.

Subscriptions can feel heavy early on

Subscriptions make sense when:

  • usage is predictable
  • workflows are well established
  • teams rely on the tool daily

But early on, subscriptions can feel like friction:

  • “What if I don’t use it this month?”
  • “Do I need to cancel later?”
  • “Am I locked into something?”

Credits remove those concerns. You stay in control.

We want pricing to feel fair and transparent

Another reason we chose credits is clarity.

You always know:

  • what you’re paying for
  • when credits are used
  • how many requests you have left

There are no hidden thresholds, surprise upgrades, or forced plan jumps. If you’re still exploring SignDeck, you can start for free and only upgrade when it makes sense for you.

Why subscriptions are still coming

That said, subscriptions aren’t off the table.

As more users rely on SignDeck regularly, a monthly plan can offer better value and convenience for those workflows. We want to introduce subscriptions based on real usage patterns, not assumptions.

What this means for you

  • You can start using SignDeck for free
  • You only pay when you send requests
  • There’s no obligation to subscribe
  • You’re free to upgrade when you’re ready

Our goal is to make SignDeck useful without making pricing feel like a commitment you have to think twice about.

Looking ahead

SignDeck will continue to evolve — features, workflows, and pricing included. But one thing won’t change: we’ll aim to keep decisions simple, fair, and aligned with how people actually work.
